After graduating from dental school in 1977, William A. Bennett, DDS spent four years in the Army before returning to North East Ohio in 1981 with the intention of taking over a local dental practice. When those plans failed to come to fruition, Dr. Bennett purchased a practice in Lakewood where he continued to practice until 1995. Living in Westlake at the time, he would drive by his present location, which was an antique shop in those days, daily while on his way to work in Lakewood. He watched while the 140 year old house was offered for sale, purchased, and turned into a cosmetics business, and when it was again placed on the market in 1995, Bill and his wife jumped at the opportunity to purchase it. They remodeled and redecorated the house, turning it into a dental office and moving their Lakewood practice to Westlake. We toured Dr. Bennett's century home/dental office recently and listened as to spoke of his practice;

My practice includes everything within the scope of general dentistry including braces, root canals, crown and bridge work, cosmetic dentistry, and limited oral surgery. I personally treat every patient and we have a very close-knit staff who has empathy for our patients and knows each of them by name. We offer extremely good service at reasonable prices and I stand behind each procedure we perform. I truly like my patients and not only enjoy taking care of them, I also take pleasure in just seeing them and having a chance to visit with them.

We offer a full range of services for everyone from age three on up. I recommend that parents bring their children with them when their child is only two years old so they can watch mom and dad having their check-ups. When you're only two feet tall, everything can look pretty scary, but by watching their parents receiving dental care, children learn that there isn't anything to be afraid of and going to the dentist is just another part of life. It's important that their first visit to our office not be a scary visit, so I encourage parents to help their children learn to feel comfortable here by bringing their children in at an early age.

This house was built in 1863 and my wife has decorated it Country French. It's a very homey environment where our patients can feel comfortable and at ease. We have coffee available for everybody when they come in and we strive to make their visit as pleasant of an experience as possible.

My wife and I have raised four children in Westlake and they've all attended the Westlake school system. Our eldest son Jeff is a former Marine, our daughter Judy now has five children of her own, our son Jason was a Company Commander with the First Cavalry Division in Baghdad, and our youngest son Jamie has graduated from dental school in Colorado and will be assigned to West Point with the Army.
