West Bay Manor provided the Westlake community with a continuity of exceptional nursing care that spanned three decades. In 1996, this privately owned facility was purchased by Harborside Healthcare, one of the nation's leading providers of high-quality long-term care and rehabilitation services. As Harborside Healthcare continues to enhance its excellent reputation in the community, we recently took time to stop by, tour the 259 bed facility, and listen as Director of Admissions and Marketing Mary Grace Pellegrino offered this overview of the services they provide;
Harborside Healthcare is one of the nation's largest and most respected skilled-nursing and long-term care companies. We are an industry innovator, developing and providing postacute care, long-term care, and other specialty medical programs and services. We offer a full range of programs and services that include everything from restorative nursing to respite care, from assistance with activities of daily living to Alzheimer's care. Each year, we help thousands of patients get back on their feet and return home after an illness, injury, or surgery. We also provide a caring, safe, supportive environment for our extended-care residents, so they can live lives that are as active, dignified, and independent as possible.
We provide excellent in-house and outpatient rehabilitation services, and we also provide a transition room for those residents preparing to return home. Our transition units are designed like small apartments, and they offer the opportunity for residents to determine if they can successfully care for themselves by performing common household and personal tasks, such as using the kitchen, making their own coffee, and taking a bath. We take our residents on field trips, present many musical programs for their entertainment, and have the support of many community churches. Harborside Healthcare has an enclosed courtyard where our residents can relax and be comfortable in a safe, secure environment, and we also have a greenhouse where they utilize their gardening skills.
Harborside Healthcare offers a very warm, friendly atmosphere. When you enter our facility, you're always greeted with a smile. Our residents are well acquainted with our staff, and our staff prides themselves on developing interactive relationships with our residents. We have nine staff members directing activities that enable our residents to enjoy themselves while developing relationships with other residents and staff members. Our residents have access to the services of our many credentialed physicians. Dr. Emile Sabbagh is one of our Medical Directors specializing in geriatric care. Dr. John Wolf of West Shore Primary Care is our other Medical Director and has been part of the team for the past eleven years. Many staff members have been with us for five, ten, fifteen, and twenty years. This long-term dedication of our staff is not only an indication of Harborside Healthcare's commitment to our staff, but it also demonstrates our staff's commitment to our residents.
