From the early 1970s, Jim Farley worked with group life and health insurance companies providing health plans to area employers. In 1974 The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) became a federal law setting minimum standards for most voluntarily established private industry pension and health plans to provide protection for the covered individuals. ERISA enabled employers to self-insure or self-fund their health plans. Jim knew that the major insurance companies designed their plans specifically for companies employing tens of thousands of employees or more, and that the primary needs of smaller firms were routinely overlooked. Jim founded The J.P. Farley Corporation in 1979 to squarely address the needs of these smaller companies, and help them provide health plans that had been custom designed in response to their individual employee commitments. We interviewed Vice-President of Marketing Patricia S. Hannigan-Farley, Ph.D recently and listened as she explained how The J.P. Farley Corporation has become a leader in their field;
The J.P. Farley Corporation is a third party health plan administration company specializing in assisting companies with 100 to 5,000 employees administer their self-funded health care plans. We provide these sponsor companies with individualized services that are too burdensome for the large insurance companies to offer. We administer medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans, in addition to flexible spending and health savings accounts and short-term, long-term, and life insurance plans, as well.
For example, most large insurers' health plans in the State of Ohio cover immunizations for the children of the insured at least until they're seven years old. If your company wants to provide immunizations to your employees' children until they're twelve years old, you'll find that the larger insurance companies don't have a program to do that. The J.P. Farley Corporation, on the other hand, has the flexibility to customize a plan so that your company can provide the exact age you desire. Likewise, practically every individual facet of your plan can be custom designed in precisely the same way.
The J.P. Farley Corporation provides all the services offered by large health insurance companies and more. We help you design the plan you want your company to provide, and we produce a complete package that explains your individualized health care plan to your covered employees. From enrollment I.D. cards to prescription drug cards, benefit booklets, and customized lists of approved health care providers, we supply you with full administrative support for your plan. We process your claims, pay the providers in accordance with your plan's benefits, and help your employees understand their coverage both before and after they seek medical attention. We have coaches who help them learn about their condition, educate them on what to expect from their caregiver, and help them understand your plan's coverage.
Healthcare is a very important benefit for your employees, and yet, there's nothing more confusing for them than trying to understand the medical billing process and sorting through the myriad of entities sending bills for provided care. Our claims processors will meet with your employees, go over their bills, and help them understand not only the coverage you provide, but also their responsibilities as they relate to co-payments, limits, covered procedures, and exclusions.
