While studying for his degree at Cleveland State University, William C. Pawson worked his way through school as a painter. By graduation day, he already had a crew of fifty employees. Degree in hand, Bill began interviewing with local companies, but was surprised to learn that none of the offers he received came close to what he had already encountered and built with his own company. Fortunately for Cleveland area residents, Bill decided to continue to build WestBay Decorating Flooring Center rather than seeking employment elsewhere.

WestBay Decorating was founded in 1980 and, throughout the subsequent years, continued to grow into this area's leading name in floor covering and design.
